High School Career:
Chuck O’Bannon Jr. attended Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, becoming one of Nevada’s most notable basketball prospects. As a senior, he averaged 21.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game, leading Bishop Gorman to a state 4A championship. His high-level performance earned him a selection to the 2017 McDonald's All-American Game, where he recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
College Career:
O’Bannon initially attended USC (2017–2019), where he played limited minutes across two seasons, averaging 1.8 points per game. Seeking greater opportunities, he transferred to TCU in January 2020. After gaining eligibility, he significantly elevated his game at TCU. Notably, in the 2021–2022 season, he averaged 9.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game and played a key role in TCU's historic NCAA Tournament appearance, scoring a career-high 23 points in a memorable second-round matchup against Arizona.
Professional Career:
After completing his collegiate eligibility, Chuck O’Bannon Jr. entered professional basketball internationally. In 2024, he signed his first professional contract with the Nitra Blue Wings in the Slovak Extraliga, embarking on his professional journey abroad.
Personal Journey:
Born on March 1, 1999, in Long Beach, California, Chuck comes from a prestigious basketball lineage. His father, Charles O'Bannon Sr., and uncle, Ed O’Bannon, were celebrated members of UCLA’s 1995 national championship team. Chuck spent part of his childhood overseas in Japan, where his father played professional basketball, gaining unique global basketball exposure before returning to the U.S. to carve his own path.
