High School Career:
Jalen Green quickly established himself as an elite basketball prospect during his high school career, initially at San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, California. He made an immediate impact as a freshman, averaging 18.1 points and nine rebounds per game, guiding his team to the CIF Central Section Division II finals. In his sophomore year, Green elevated his performance, averaging 27.9 points per game and securing the Central Section title. His junior season was even more prolific, averaging 30.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, earning another sectional championship. Green transferred to Prolific Prep for his senior year, leading the team with 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and five assists per game, and capturing the Grind Session World Championship.
Professional Career:
In April 2020, Green made history by becoming the first player to sign with the NBA G League Ignite program, bypassing college basketball. In his single season with Ignite, Green averaged 17.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He was selected second overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. Green demonstrated his elite scoring ability early, averaging 17.3 points per game as a rookie and increasing to 22.1 points per game in his second NBA season. Recognizing his potential and impact, the Rockets signed Green to a lucrative three-year, $106 million contract extension in 2024.
